![]() God Complex arrogance or not, Light couldn't have conceivably "threw the game" in such an idiotic way and that's where my (and I suspect most fans') ire is directed towards. Just something as simple as making himself and subordinates carry a page of the note with themselves for use in crucial moments isn't too much to ask from Light. Instead they made Light die in a stupid way, even though he had plenty of options and could reasonably anticipate and prepare for what was coming (I mean come on this is the guy who pulled of a fucking memory gambit). If Light had been taken out in a super intelligent way like how L did it in the movies, and Near had pulled something like that off I would have been completely fine with it. They had to drag it out, fine it could be good, but then towards the end they simply made Light stupid, perhaps as a copout to get the obligatory "good triumphs over evil" ending. When I say I disliked the handling of the 2nd half I mean there shouldn't have been a second half at all, around episode 25 when Light becomes God of the New World was the perfect ending to Death Note, 10/10 in my book. However, after hearing about the death of the detective, Nia says that he lost because he couldn’t play right. She is withdrawn, impassive, and eccentric. He was later succeeded by one of the candidates for the seat of L. Instead of hating Mikami, Near, Mello or anyone else the fans usually pin the blame on, I disliked the authors handling of the 2nd half, and for giving Light plot induced stupidity towards the end. Near is the real name of Nate River and one of the main characters from the manga and anime series Death Note. ![]()
